Donations of Clothes, Food/Supplies, and Cans
In addition to time and money, HUMC members are invited to donate clothing, food, and toiletry items as well as empty aluminum cans. There are labeled bins located by the back entrance. Give much and often!
Empty Aluminum Cans
We convert your empty aluminum cans into cash $$$ which goes to providing a hot McDonald’s breakfast and home-made sack lunches for our Room In The Inn guests. We save up and recycle all year-around to be able to fund this. If you see someone accidentally throwing a can into the trash instead of into the Aluminum Can Bin, please let them know of this wonderful opportunity they have to contribute to this mission! Also, collect cans from your friends and neighbors to bring to church. We accept all kinds of aluminum drink cans as long as they are empty! The worst place for an empty can is in the trash… They end up in a landfill where they aren’t doing any good for anybody. Each 12 oz. can is worth at least 1 cent. 16 oz. and 32 oz. cans are also welcome! So far this year, we’ve converted about 25,000 cans into $300.
Clothing
Much of our men’s clothing is given to our guests at Room In The Inn, and the remainder is delivered to the other missions in Nashville that have it on their Wish Lists. Each of these organizations provide clothing to the homeless and some also sell clothing in their Thrift Stores to fund their ministries.
Food & Toiletry Items
Most missions in this brochure need Food donations. We make regular deliveries to these agencies. They are always very appreciative for the supplies. Currently on the “Most Wanted” lists of these shelters are canned vegetables & fruits, peanut butter, and grape jelly. Non-food items needed: toothbrushes, white tube socks (men’s), and toiletry items.
Other: Garage sales, Furniture, Games, Books, Magazines, Baby Items
If you have left-overs from a garage sale or yard sale or are just cleaning out your closets and have stuff you want to donate, give us a call. Several missions in this brochure can either use these left-overs directly or sell them in their Thrift Stores.
Financial Donations
All of these missions need some type of financial assistance. If you would like to explore the financial needs of any of the missions in this brochure, contact us.
