The Campus for Human Development (CHD) provides programs that emphasize human development and recovery through education, self-help and work, centered in community and long-term support for homeless persons. It is an inter-denominational program involving over 250 religious organizations in the area. CHD offers psychological counseling and job skills programs, as well as housing and meals for the homeless. Along with Room In The Inn (see pg. 8), they provide Day Services, Respite Care for homeless persons in medically fragile condition, a Guest House, Educational Programs including G.E.D. courses, and Homeless Prevention Services.

  • Shower volunteers: assist w/ toiletries, towels, etc.
  • Provide educational programs or assist
  • Administrative tasks such as record keeping, organizing
  • Adopt-a-room at the Respite Care facility
  • Serve a meal at the Respite Care facility or Guest House
  • Assist with assessment of emergency needs
  • Mail Room volunteers
  • Prepare breakfast or sack lunches for Day Services participants
  • Greet participants, assist with paperwork they may need to fill out, provide activities, assist with special needs
