The DISCIPLE study series aims at transformation, not just information, and calls on persons to submit themselves to examination by Scripture, to put themselves under the power of God’s Word, and to be changed by God’s Word. Remember Who You Are is prepared for those who have completed Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples Through Bible. Resident in the title is the driving idea in this study–the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. Participants in this study will read the major and minor Old Testament prophets, with the exception of Daniel, and will read the thirteen letters traditionally attributed to Paul.

Overcoming Divorce seeks to help men and women who are in the process of divorce. The course will teach, support, and empower participants so they can grieve their loss. Learning will also include communication skills, setting healthy boundaries, understanding past mistakes, dealing with depression and anxiety, and coping with confused children and family members.
Sunday

This class will explore the ways God has gifted all of us for ministry in the places we live and work. We will complete a Spiritual Gifts inventory, which will guide the lay leadership committee in choosing leaders for 2011.
5pm – 7:30pm, Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
The DISCIPLE study series aims at transformation, not just information, and calls on persons to submit themselves to examination by Scripture, to put themselves under the power of God’s Word, and to be changed by God’s Word. Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study is the foundation of the Disciple Bible Study program. Disciple 1 gives equal time to both the Old and New Testament, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God. This study requires reading large portions of Scripture each week and is based on careful study and preparation. During the course of thirty-four weeks, groups will move through the biblical stories of Creation to the New Jerusalem.
Oct. 24 – Nov. 21, Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White, led by Vern Denney
Based on the book of the same name, this five-session study looks at the places where faith and politics meet. Each session features a video of Adam Hamilton, of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, teaching about the topic of the week. The weeks cover: Where faith and politics meet; Christ, Christians and the Culture Wars; How Should We Live? The Ethics of Jesus; Spiritual Maturity and Seeing Gray; and What Would Jesus Say to America.
Nov. 28 – Dec. 19th – Meeting the Messiah: Scriptures for the Advent Season
This study is based on Scripture and the reflections of Kara Lassen Oliver, who seeks to help us find time for the sacred in the midst of the busyness of the holidays.
